Renaissance Training
Students studying on the Renaissance track focus on the weapons that gained popularity as the world shifted and fencing became intwined with art, geometry, and math. The fencing books of this era were accessible to a wider swathe of the population and provided training for a variety of scenarios a civilian may encounter.
The Renaissance track primarily focuses on the Rapier, a fast sword with complex hilt and narrow thrusting type blade. Students seek to develop control of this sword before adding bucklers, daggers, and cloaks to its use. This is followed by a study of the sidesword a weapon with an early complex hilt and cutting blade. Later students study the Montante, a great two handed sword and the longest of European swords. They learn how this sword was used by bodyguards for crowd control and on ships to keep invading parties from being able to board.
